Upcoming Land Weekends & Membership Application

Hello Dear Community,

As the snow begins to melt and the first sprouts begin to come up, we are thinking about the future of the land and community, and planning for the next work weekends as well as our very first member's weekend for visioning this community. We hope you will mark your calendar and join us. The next work weekend is soon approaching!

Upcoming Community Weekends

• March 29-31: Work weekend. Friday during the day, we will boulder at Penitente. Bring your bouldering crash pad if you have one! Friday evening, we'll land at Great Sand Dune Recreation for dinner and a soak (dinner not included). Saturday day and Sunday morning will be working on the land (all meals included from Saturday morning through Sunday brunch) with many different projects for all including finishing the cabin, making a deck, composting, and new flooring and windows inside the current community structure. Please let us know if you plan to come. We're stoked to see you soon!

• May 24-27: Work weekend. Planting weekend! Chickens will be brought over and settled in. Garage will be closed up for storage. We may have a hot tub running by this date!

• June 21-23: Visioning Member's weekend. This weekend will be a little different. It will only be for members and we will have various meetings about the future of SLIC and making a 5- and 10-year plan mixed in with some fun activities together. No physical labor or work on the land will be planned. Come be a part of co-creating our future together. See more details about what membership entails below (there have been some changes).

• July 26-28: Work weekend. The official weekend of commemoration for Gail and the creation of Gail's Way will happen this weekend, the second anniversary of Gail's passing. Tractors and bulldozers will be used. There will be plenty of tasks to do and things to learn!

Membership Changes

The board has made some changes to membership, as we never wanted money to be a barrier or an entry-point for membership. Hence, we changed our membership process to be an application here: https://forms.gle/GLxKBysiUJMn3LNE7. Our members weekends (i.e. June 21-23) will only be open to individuals whose applications have been accepted for membership. Our work weekends, however, are still open to anyone joining. Though it would still be very helpful to have a recurring donation to support SLIC financially (https://www.sustaininglifeic.org/donate), we hope this opens the door to others joining the community and being a part of the co-creation of SLIC together. Nothing will change for those of you who have already signed up for recurring donations, and we appreciate your support!
